Kimmie

Kimmie is a ballerina.  she has long legs and is quite graceful.  She walks on her tippy toes all of the time because that is good form for ballerinas.  Sometimes she frightens people because they can't hear her enter a room and she catches them off guard.  Kimmie always hears music in her head, and it is always beautiful and full of lots of stringed instruments.  At night, when everyone on her block is asleep, Kimmie puts on a pair of bunny slippers and heads outside where she dances in the spotlight of the street lamps to the music in her head.  The owls think her shows are lovely.

Kimmie is up for grabs over here.

I have been reading Craft Inc. for the past few days.  It is a businessey type of book for right brainers.  I have always been uncomfortable with the word business, but lately I have been starting to cozy up to it.  True, it is not a sign of a successful business to have to seek out part-time work like I have, but this Pillow Monster business is my business and I will love it like it is.  I can have my own little quiet business revolution and throw out all the corporate rules I used to have to follow (as a meager, little pion that wore an apron and up-sized, not as an executive or anything like that).  I can be nice for the sake of being nice instead of being nice for the sake of profit and phoniness.  Being my own boss, I can let myself spend an hour decorating a cardboard box because it's fun, and not give myself a disapproving "poor time management" frown.  So over the next few weeks I am going to start developing this business slightly more seriously, but on my own terms.  I really like the idea of creating a "mission statement" because it sounds very serious, but also a little poetic.  Craft, Inc is recommended by the way if you are seeking a similar adventure!

Hi Nichol!
You are so right! Being your own boss allows you to paint the picture of your day with your own fresh paints in whatever colors you choose without other peole sticking their fingers in your painting. :) That is how I feel about Pug Notes. I get up every morning at dawn excited about my day instead of having a knot in my stomach like I did with my last job. At least that experience provided me alot of contrast to know what I do not want. Ha!
I recommend reading Alyson Stanfield's I'd Rather Be in the Studio to develop your art business and artist statement. It is fantastic. http://www.idratherbeinthestudio.com/ . She also has a great blog and weekly newsletter. She is a wonderful person and resource.

Nichol - I'd been thinking of suggesting you design a pillow monster pattern.
Less effort on your hands and your designs are wonderful.

Sheridan, YES! Great idea! I think that is maybe what I need to do. First, I need to conquer photo shop, though.

Thanks!-Nichol
